Arsene Wenger’s men were unable to keep their hopes of a top for finish alive as they were unable to secure a win against Brighton as they crashed out of the match with a 2-1 defeat in the Amex Stadium today to Brighton & Hove Albion.
Arsenal began the game with energy as they moved to mount pressure but they were not able to use their chances and Brighton scored the first goal of the match as they took advantage of the Arsenal’s defence and beat the Arsenal goalkeeper with a good shot from Lewis Dunk in the 6th minute of the game.
Not long after, just midway through the first forty five minutes Brighton increased their lead as Glenn Murray was able to head in the ball after Laurent Koscielny gave Albion the possession and a poor performance from Petr Cech.
Arsenal then scored one back to bring back their hopes of winning just before half time. Granit Xhaka gave a nice pass to Aubameyang in the box and the striker pit the ball in from a short distance to post to make it 2-1.
Arsene Wenger’s men brought in their A game in the second half but all their efforts to get back a goal were waisted and Brighton were able to secure themselves a win against Arsenal
Now Arsenal stays sixth on the Premier League table and a long gap of thirteen points behind the top four which automatically means Champions League next season is not possible.
