United News: team and injury update.
The United boss Jose Mourinho updated on his team, speaking on both Martial and Lukaku.
In reference to Jose Mourinho midweek suggestion of Anthony Martial been called back from the side lines after missing the action against West Ham on Thursday, it was believed that Martial will be starting with the team this afternoon against Watford.
Unfortunately he was left ou due to unforseen circumstances as he picked up knee injury during training on Friday, which caused him to miss the training on Saturday. This ruined his play at the Uniteds final against Watford and so he wasn’t shortlisted for the game.
Mourinho confirms he wouldn’t be fit enough to make the play against any team for now.
The French international will be looked after for the next few days but Mourinho doubts his availability for the clash with Chelsea next weekend know he is running behind time.
Lakaku on the other hand will be returning to Carrington on Tuesday for the medical unit to check on him and confirm his fitness as he looks to return from an ankle injury.
Lukaku has been in Belgium receiving treatment over the picked up ankle injury against Arsenal 2 weeks ago and it isn’t looking likely for the player to make it to the clash between the United and his former team Chelsea.
Mourinho told ManUtd.com:
“Anthony, I have to wait a bit for more. It’s his knee. He was injured in the Friday training session and yesterday [Saturday] he couldn’t train. He had treatment in the morning at the training ground and he stayed away.”
“I’m waiting for the doctor but when it’s impossible to play today, I have my doubts [for the cup final]. Let’s wait and see, also for Romelu. I know he will be back on Tuesday.”
So far the red devil’s had been able to deliver following Rashfords winner goal against Watford. Regardless Mourinho is much in need of his lead striker Lukaku as he would be more valuable for the final against Chelsea
